Never mind the fact that they couldn’t afford Christopher Lambert’s role reprisal. Never mind the fact that Johnny Cage, and Sonja Blade were also replaced by no-names and Johnny didn’t survive the first 2 minutes of the movie, and never mind the special effects “wizards” who stuffed the effects budget in their pockets instead of spending on the movie. Mind the movie, it’s brutally painful to watch and listen to. Here, let me sum up the best of the film’s dialogue: “Ooogaa Hunha”, “hucky tucky hiyeeeeeee”, and my favorite “Arrrrrrrgh.” Here’s what producer Larry Kasanoff, chairman and CEO of Threshold Entertainment had to say about it. "Everything we wanted to do in the first movie and couldn’t, we did in this one. This is not a sequel -- it’s the next bigger and better chapter in the adventures of a group of phenomenally popular characters in a universe called Mortal Kombat." Yeah Yeah Larry, whatever. What this is, is an attempt to have a repeat of the financial success of the first film, which earned more than $23 million in its opening weekend. The story is weak, the characters are irritating, and the effects are rotten. After walking out of the theatre, I had to wipe a tear from my cheek, because I came to the realization that I’ll never get those two hours back. MINUS 4 – Hiiiiiigggghhhhh Yuuuuu!
