By far this is the most anticipated movie of the year, and yah, I stood in line for three and a half hours to see it. Spiderman 3 does not disappoint. They got this one right, and followed the old Spiderman stories that we have come to know and love to a "T". The introduction of Eddie Brock as Peter Parker's nemesis was done o-so-well.  The origin of Sand Man was clear-cut and every bit as artistic as any comic book character's origin should be. And let's not forget the symbiote that brings out the absolute worst in our hero Peter Parker after invading his body. Hey, Tobey Maguire has a hidden talent: playing a complete jerk! We're used to seeing him and timid roles, but when the symbiote integrates itself into Peter Parker's psyche, and turns the famous red and blue costume into jet black, Tobey nails Parker as a hurtful, spiteful, egocentric, maniacal, megalomaniac. Let's not forget, Spiderman fans have been waiting for a movie with multiple villains, and Spiderman 3 delivered the Goblin, Sand Man, Eddie Brock, and Venom. Man did Venom look creepy.

The film crew has done everything so well that this movie should be on the block for an Oscar or three. Dynamite special effects, phenomenal action sequences, well written dialogue, and the perfect focus on the emotional states of all the characters in the story, both good and bad, are all but guaranteeing my going back to seeing this one on the IMAX screen at least a half dozen times before its release on DVD. For those of you familiar with the Spiderman and Marvel Heroes video games, you're going to love the fight sequences as they include fastballs of webbing, jumping back and forth between following concrete blocks, and some really good fists to the head, just like in the Play Station 3 releases. One more note…Kirsten Dunst looks gooood in this flick.

Who says that sequels suck? Oh yeah, I did! However, after Sony pictures has put together three fantastic movies in a row, I am retracting that belief and I hope the Spiderman franchise continues well past my death. Spiderman 3 gets a BIG 4 on the Kev-O-Meter!
