Dec 11, 1998 - Star Trek InsurrectionBack
The crew of the Enterprise have finally begun showing their age. When they cast The Next Generation, they should have gone with younger blood. To build on that, younger blood is exactly what Paramount Pictures needs in their writing department. This is the 9th Star Trek film, and is by far the worst. Most Star trek fans I speak to unanimously agree that part was the worst of the pack, but it seems that it just got bumped to 8th place. Captain Jean-Bald Picard and his crew have discovered a planet inhabited by humans over 300 years old. This planet has radioactive rings that regenerate their genetic structures and keep them all young…ooooooo. So naturally some all-powerful alien race wants to steal this “fountain of youth” with Federation help, while Baldie and friends decide to help these seemingly useless people. This movie never once picks up it’s pace. In fact, its pace is similar to that of a leg-less turtle. I’m not sure what they wanted to say with this episode, but I do know that I’m saying: Star Wars, where are you?
Star Trek Insurrection balances the Kev-O-Meter resting in the Zero position.
Starring Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton, Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden and Marina Sirtis. Directed by Jonathan Frakes.
