Apr 21, 2007 - Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Walkthrough for DS 1.2

Back

 Floaroma Town:
Heal up and head to the upper left corner to find that the Galactic Grunts
are now gone. Enter the Floaroma Meadow.

Floaroma Meadow:
As soon as you enter, you will see two Galatic grunt harassing a man. Go
up the steps to battle them.
   /-------------------------------------------------------------------------
   |Boss: Team Galatic Grunt                                                                       |
   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Pokemon:                                                                                              |
   |Wurmple lv 9 (Bug)                                                                               |
   |Silcoon lv 9 (Bug)                                                                                  |
   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Info: Still not much of a challenge. I don't remember Silcoon having any |
   |      attacks, so it is easy EXP. Wurmple is pretty much the same as the |
   |      one you fought earlier.                                            |
   -------------------------------------------------------------------------/
After that one, you will fight a second Grunt.
   /-------------------------------------------------------------------------

   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Pokemon:                                                                                              |
   |Zubat lv 11 (Poison/Flying)                                                                     |
   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Info: Nothing new. If you were able to defeat Zubats earlier, then you      |
   |      can kill this one in just a few moves.                                                  |
   -------------------------------------------------------------------------/
Once they are both defeated, you will get some Honey and the Works Key.
Head back to the Valley Windworks.

   Valley Windworks:
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that you have the key, you can go inside. Before you fight the Galatic
Commander, you will have to fight several Grunts (4 total). Before you
fight the commander herself, make sure you heal at a Pokemon Center. Head
to the backroom to start the battle.
   /-------------------------------------------------------------------------

   |Purugly lv 16 (Normal)                                                                           |
   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Info: While it may seem like her Zubat is normal, it knows Toxic: A move |
   |      that will increase in power over time as long as you are poisoned.       |
   |      If you do get poisoned, try to heal as soon as you knock it out.           |
   |      Purugly is a little bit of a tank, but will go down quickly if your             |
   |      starter is at its second stage.                                                               |
   -------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Once you defeat her, they will clear out of the Windworks. Drifloon will
also start showing up outside on Fridays (There will be one you can talk
to right outside, they only appear once every week and do not appear in
the grass. Once you are done with that, continue back to Route 205.
 ===========================================================================
                                Route 205   ===========================================================================
   /-------------------------------------------
   |Pokemon   |Rarity                                    |

   |Bidoof    |Common                                   |
   -------------------------------------------/
Same Pokemon that was at the Windworks. You will run into several trainers
on the route, although your main goal is to head up to the Eternia
   Forest.
 ===========================================================================
                               Eterna Forest   ===========================================================================
   /-------------------------------------------
   |Pokemon   |Rarity                          |

   |Castcoon  |Common (Pearl Only)             |
   |Beautifly |Rare (Diamond Only)                 |
   |Dustox    |Rare (Pearl only)                       |
   |Murkrow   |Uncommon (Night, Diamond only)  |
   |Misdreavus|Uncommon (Night, Pearl only)    |
   -------------------------------------------/
Pretty much every Pokemon in the forest is new, several you want to catch.
However, as soon as you enter the forest, you will be forced to team up
with a trainer named Cheryl. Although you had a partner battle before,
   here is some basics:

-When you encounter a wild Pokemon, two of them will appear at once. You
cannot throw a Pokeball until one of them faints. It may be a good idea
to catch Pokemon after you get to Eterna.

-When you have a party member and exit the way you came in, they will wait
at the entrance and rejoin you the next time you enter.

-You cannot surf or use rock climb while a trainer follows you.

-After each battle, yours and the trainers Pokemon will be fully healed.
If any are knocked out, they are revived.

With that out of the way, its good to note that Chansey is a very weak
Pokemon, usually healing itself or you in battle most of the time. However,
it is at lv 15, which isn't too bad. Also, its a good idea to wait until
later to catch Pokemon since you will have to faint one before you can
throw Pokeballs and the trainer will still attack that Pokemon.

Another thing to note is Eterna forest is filled with trainers lined up
to have double battles. Even if you talk to just one, it will still
   be a double battle.

To exit Eterna forst: from the entrance, go right, then up, and then
right again. Head down, then to the right, and then up, and
then to the left and up again. If you get lost, just remember to keep
going forward on the path. Eventually, you will hit two cuttable
trees (Although you can't cut them yet since you do not have the badge
or HM yet). If you head right from those trees, you will be out of the
Forest and Cheryl will leave your party.

Now that she is gone, it may be a good time to catch some Pokemon.
Wurmple and its evolutions are a bit weak, so only catch them for the
Pokedex. Buneary is a decent normal type and somewhat better then
Bidoof and such. Diamond players can get a Murkrow, which now has a
new evolution (Plus, it is a flying/Dark type, which is fairly good
considering the lack of dark types in the game). Pearl players can
get Misdreavus, a fairly decent ghost type (Granted, I still think
   Gengar is a bit better).

Once you are done in the forest, head over to the other side of Route
   205.
   Route 205 (Eterna City side):
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Pokemon are pretty much the same, so there is no real point unless
you want to level up. A few fishermen on the bridge as well you can fight.
Once you are done, head east to Eterna City.
 ===========================================================================
                               Eterna City   ===========================================================================
First things first: head over to the Pokemon center and heal up. Second
thing to do is head to the house next to the Pokemon center and talk to the
old guy inside to get a Explorer Kit (You have to get it before you can
leave town). You can also now head to the underground and start digging for
items (Keep in mind that some things won't appear until you get the
   National Dex).

Head up north of the Pokemon Center to meet a young lady named Cynthia.
She will give you HM 01 (Cut), although you cannot use it quite yet.
You can also head over to the Herb Shop and buy some cheaper medicine,
although it will lower your Pokemon's friendship with you.

Next to the Pokemart is a Condominium where you can trade a Buizel for
a Chatot (A flying/normal type you will not see until much later in
the game. Not all that great for battle, though). Once you are ready,
head over to the Eterna City Gym in the lower right corner.
 ===========================================================================
                               Eterna Gym   ===========================================================================
Eterna's Gym is sort of a odd one. Instead of trying to avoid trainers to
get to the leader, you will have to fight 3 trainers before you can fight
the leader herself. The bad? They will appear hidden one at a time and
you have to fight them in order. Here are their locations:

-The first is hidden by a tree near the gym leader's area. To reach it:
head up to the gym leader's green platform and then turn to your right.
Go down the path that leads south on the right path and you will find
the trainer at the bottom on the right side.

-The second trainer is located in the Southwestern path. From the first
trainer, go back up and then go left and then down the path. She will
be at the end, somewhat hidden by trees.

-The third trainer is in the northeastern path. From the entrance of the
Gym, head on the first right path and then keep going up until you
reach the end. She will be hidden by a tree.

Once you beat all 3 trainers, the Gym Leader will appear to the very
North of the gym. Make sure you have a few healing items (Like items that
can cure Paralyze and potions) and heal up at the Pokecenter.
   /-------------------------------------------------------------------------
   |Boss: Gardenia                                                                                      |
   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Pokemon:                                                                                              |
   |Cherubi lv 19 (Grass)                                                                             |
   |Turtwig lv 19 (Grass)                                                                             |
   |Roserade lv 22 (Grass/Poison)                                                               |
   |-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
   |Info: Both her Cherubi and Turtwig are fairly weak, flying Pokemon such  |
   |      as Starly and Murkrow can make quick work of them (As well as      |
   |      Chimchar). Roserade is a bit more powerful, being a final evolution     |
   |      and 3 levels above the others. If you have a Kadabra or Alakazam,    |
   |      now would be the time to use them (Psychic moves are effective         |
   |      against poison types). Flying types also work well, since they are        |
   |      somewhat resistant against grass attacks. I don't remmber her too       |
   |      well, but I think she used a mixture of poison and paralyze                  |
   |      attacks.                                                                                              |
   -------------------------------------------------------------------------/
Once you beat her, you will get the Forest Badge and TM 86 (Grass Knot).                                                      ===========================================================================
The Global Trade Center/Setting up a Wireless Connection   ===========================================================================
One feature that has been long awaited for the Pokemon games is the ability
to trade Pokemon Online. Fortunatly, Nintendo gave it to us in the form of
   the GTS: Global Trade Center.
The first and most obvious thing to note is you need a wireless connection
from one of the following to access the GTS:

   -A Wireless Router
   or
   -A Nintendo USB Wireless Connector
   or
-A wireless access point (Usually located at most businesses. Most hotels
and coffee shops like Starbucks offer wireless internet. Even some
fast food placed like McDonalds and Crystals in some locations offer
    wireless access points).

Now, you need to imput your settings on your DS to access the wireless
spots. To do that, go to the main menu when you are selecting to load
a file and choose the Wi-Fi option. If you have played another game
online with that particular DS, then you will not have to worry about
it. Usually, most wireless points are not locked, but not all wireless
routers will connect to the DS easily (Best to call your ISP for any
issues. I cannot help with any connection problems).

Now, on to the GTS itself. To access it, head to Jublife City and go left
from the Pokemon Center until you see a giant building.

Once you enter, you have several options. If you look at the globe, you can
register your location so people can see where you are from when trading.
Once you do register, you can look on the globe to see the location of all
the trades you have done over the GTS.

To actually trade Pokemon, go to the receptionist and say yes when she asks
if you want to trade. You will then have to save and connect to Nintendo's
Wi-Fi servers. Once that is done, you will be ready to start trading!

   The Basics (00A4)
   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-First of all, you must have at least seen the Pokemon to search for it.
Any Pokemon seen at the Battle Tower will not count, although I am
not sure about Pokemon you see in Link Battles

-Second, you can only search on certain criteria:
    *Gender
    *Any Level
    *Pokemon lv 9 or below
    *Pokemon lv 10 or above
    *Pokemon lv 20 or above
    *Pokemon lv 30 or above
    *Pokemon lv 40 or above
    *Pokemon lv 50 or above
    *Pokemon lv 60 or above
    *Pokemon lv 70 or above
    *Pokemon lv 80 or above
    *Pokemon lv 90 or above
    *Lv 100 Pokemon

-Once you choose your criteria, if any were found while searching they
will appear on the bottom screen. Use the stylus to see what they
want. If you have a Pokemon that matched what they want, then it will
appear lit up when searching your boxes; all other Pokemon will be
     greyed out.

-You can trade for any level Pokemon once you gain access to the GTS.
However, be aware that they will not obey you if you do not have the
     right number of badges.

-Pokemon gotten from the 3rd Generation will not list the route or
area they were caught/hatched/recieved from, but they will list
the region they were caught in. For example: Say you caught a
Pidgey in FR and traded it to Emerald and then sent it to
Diamond. It will say it came from Kanto instead of Hoenn.

-You can only upload one Pokemon at a time to trade. You can take
it back at any time, and if someone traded with you, the Pokemon
will be sent to you the next time you check your status or the
next time you log on to the GTS.

    Hacked Pokemon (00B4)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
If there is one problem with trading on the GTS, it is the chances of
getting a hacked Pokemon. While it is good to note that severly hacked
Pokemon (Stats being too high, moves it cannot learn) are usually banned
from the GTS, some do slip through. Here is a few examples of hacked
    Pokemon.

-If non-legendary Pokemon are caught with a Masterball, then there is a
extremely good chance that it is hacked.

-Furthermore, all hatched and event Pokemon from the 3rd generation come
in normal Pokeballs (Such as starters, Pokemon that have been given away,
etc). If they come in something that is not a normal Pokeball, then
it is hacked (For example: Say you get a Nidoqueen on the GTS from
Hoenn and it was caught with a Ultra Ball. Since Nidoran Female are not
native to Hoenn, the only way it could register from Hoenn is if it was
     hatched there).

-If the stats look fairly low for a certain Pokemon, then there is a good
     chance it is hacked.

-If the moveset for a lv 100 Pokemon consists of moves that would not be
benificial for it, there is a good chance it may be hacked. While not
always the case, most hacked lv 100s are caught in the wild and traded
     without modifying its moveset.

-If the Pokemon is native to D/P and the catch location is at a weird
spot, then it is hacked. Keep in mind that it will mention if it was
hatched or not in the catch location, so it may be hatched. A example
of a weird spot would be a Lv 100 Garchomp met and caught on Route
201: there is just no way it is possible.

-Keep in mind that a good majority of event Pokemon are hacked. Celebi
is extremely hard to find outside of Japan, as well as Mew and Deoxys.
Jirachi is a bit more common, since it came with the Colosseum bonus
disc. Also, event-only Pokemon in D/P also have a very high chance
of being hacked unless they are Japanese and fall under certain
     circumstances.

-Be wary of trainers that may list several unique Pokemon at one time,
such as several shiny lv 100 Palkia all at once.

-If the trainer or Pokemon name is more characters then is supported
(For example: A pokemon with a name that is all ?'s that goes past
what is usually accepted), then it is hacked.

Unfortunatly, it is good to note that you cannot tell a good majority
of these until you do the actual trade. Furthermore, you cannot tell
if the Pokemon was duped or a item it is holding was duped.

For those that are worried about hacked Pokemon, here is a small list
of events that were held and any unique Pokemon that may come from it:
(Note: All credit goes to serebii.net for this list. This is just a
condensed list for reference. Also note that this only lists the
rare Pokemon found in those events, serebii.net has the full list

                           The Poketech Programs   ===========================================================================
The main function of the bottom touchscreen outside of battle and special
situations is the Poketech: a special watch that can do a wide variety
of things for you. To get the Poketech, you must do a small sidequest in
Jublife City to get it (Go to the Jublife City section to find out more).

While you only start out with 4 programs, you can upgrade your Poketech
with a wide variety of extra programs; some good, some not so good. Here
is a list of all the poketech programs you can get in the game.

   #1 Digital Watch
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Get automatically with the Poketech.

Function: A somewhat handy tool that will tell you the time on a 24 hour
scale. Useful when you are on the go and need to know what
time it is. Pressing the screen will cause it to light up.

   #2 Pedometer
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Get automatically with the Poketech.

Function: A extremely handy tool for a wide variety of things, such as:

-Seeing how many steps you have taken for a egg to hatch
-How much longer before the VS Seeker is charged to 100 steps
-How much longer before the Pokeradar is charged to 50 steps
-How much EXP you have accumulated at the Day Care

To reset it, press the C button on the screen.

   #3 Memo Pad
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: After getting one badge, go to the Poketech company and talk
to the President on the first floor. Can be gotten at any
             time.

Function: Pretty much useless. You can use it as a drawing pad when you are
board or you can write memos on it so you remeber what you are
doing. Touching the eraser will allow you to...erase stuff. And
the bottom button allows you to draw. Note that going to a
different Poketech function will erase anything you have drawn.

   #4 Dowsing Machine
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: When you first enter route 207, Rowan's Assistant will stop you
and ask to play a guessing game (I think you win no matter what,
I never really failed at it). You will get the Dowsing Machine
             afterwards.

Function: Think of it as a replacement for the extremely useless Itemfinder
in the old games, only slightly less useless. The itemfinder
works by touching the screen. If there is a hidden item, then the
             circles will continue.

   #5 Calculator
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Get automatically with the Poketech

Function: Only use I can think of is quickly figuring out how many steps
you need before a egg hatches, or used to calculate EVs and
stats. Also, if you smuggle it to a match class, it might
come in handy (Too bad it only allows basic addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division, and decimals). For extra
fun, try dividing anything by Zero.

   #6 Pokemon List
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Get automatically with the Poketech

Function: Shows your current party, its health, and shows a box icon if it
has anything attached. While somewhat useless early on, it
becomes useful once you start using the pick-up ability. Touching
the Pokemon on the screen will play their cry.

   #7 Friendship Checker
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: In Eternia city, talk to a non-nurse woman to get it.

Function: Shows the current happiness of each Pokemon in your party. To
check, click on the Pokemon you want to see. Several things may
             happen:

-If no hearts show up, then it is neutral and not really liking
              or hating you.

-If one heart shows up, then it is somewhat friendly with you.
The move Return would work OK with this Pokemon.

-If two hearts shows up, then it is friendly with you. The
move Return would work fairly good with this Pokemon.

-If two hearts that start small then turn large show up, then
the Pokemon really likes you. The move return would work
very well with this Pokemon, and the Pokemon will evolve
the next time you level up if they can evolve via
              friendship.

   #8 Berry Checker
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: On Route 208, there is a house next to a berry patch. Go inside
and talk to the little girl to get it.

Function: Somewhat blah since it only shows the location of berries that
are ready to be picked and not where they can be grown.
Touching the screen will refresh it.

   #9 Day Care Checker
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: In Solaceon Town, go to the Day Care Center and talk to the guy
             sitting down.

Function: Not only does it track any of the two Pokemon you have left in
the daycare, but it also shows when a Egg is availble to pick
up from the day care guy outside, as well as the Pokemon's
current level. Pressing the screen refreshes it.

   #10 Marking Map
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: After getting the 3rd badge, go to the Poketech Company and talk
to the man on the first floor to get it. Can be gotten at
             any time.

Function: Shows your current location, as well as shows the location of
any wild Pokemon around Sinnoh. You can also put various markers
on it to mark where you need to go.

   #11 Coin Toss
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: At valor lakefront, there is a couple in one of the hotel rooms
at the resort. Talk to one of them (Don't remember really well)
             to get it).

Function: It....Tosses a virtual coin. Good for figuring out disputes in
real life or figuring out who goes first at a tournament.
             Useless.

   #12 Calendar
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: In Sunnyshore City, there is a house you have to Rock Climb
to that has a man that wants you to show him different natured
Pokemon. To get the Calendar, show him a Pokemon with a Serious
             nature

Function: Shows the days of the month, the current date, and allows you
             to draw memos on them.

   #13 Roulette
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: In Sunnyshore City, there is a house you have to Rock Climb
to that has a man that wants you to show him different natured
Pokemon. To get the Calendar, show him a Pokemon with a Quirky
             nature

Function: Sort of a odd-ball tool. What you are supposed to do is draw
things on it (Or draw it like a Roulette table with /s all
around) and draw different things on it. To start the table,
press the |> key. Pressing the [] button on the touchpad stops
it, and the C button clears everything. Everything clears when
             you go to another tool.

   #14 Pokemon History
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: In Solaceon Town, there is a old man standing in the middle of
the street when you first enter, near the Pokecenter and the
little girl (Not the farmer near the Pokecenter). Talk to him
and he will give you the Pokemon History

Function: You want to know the stupidest App for the Poketech? This is it.
All it does is show the last 12 Pokemon you caught. Nothing more,
             nothing less.

   #15 Analog Watch
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Go to the Poketech President after getting your 3rd Gym Badge
and he will give it to you (You can get it at any time after you
             get the 3rd gym badge).

Function: A alternative to those who dislike the number based Digital Watch
App you got earlier. I would use this more if it wasn't for the
lack of numbers on it (Thats just me, I hate analog with no
numbers). Lights up if you touch the screen.

   #16 Link Searcher
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Go to the Poketech President after getting your 5th Gym Badge
and he will give it to you (You can get it at any time after you
             get the 5rd gym badge).

Function: It pretty much scans for anyone in a, oh, 50 foot radius or so
that is either in a Union Room or Underground. Only really
useful if you are in a crowded area with a bunch of people that
have DS's or at a tournament.

   #17 Move Tester
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Go to the Poketech President after getting your 7th Gym Badge
and he will give it to you (You can get it at any time after you
             get the 7rd gym badge).

Function: Very, very useful tool. While you cannot use it in battle, it
does allow you to see if a move is effective against a certain
type, or even pokemon that have two types (Even types that
             Pokemon don't even have yet!)

   #18 Dot Artist
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Location: In Sunnyshore City, there is a house you have to Rock Climb
to that has a man that wants you to show him different natured
Pokemon. To get the Calendar, show him a Pokemon with a Naieve
             nature

Function: Ummm...Well...You pretty much draw, and you can draw horrible,
             horrible square art! Useless....
==========================================================================                           Catching all the Pokemon   ==========================================================================
   Key:
   -------------------------------------------------------------------------
   FR:    Available in FireRed
   LG:    Available in LeafGreen
   R:     Available in Ruby
   S:     Available in Sapphire
E:     Available in Emerald. Sometimes spelled out
   Col:   Available in Colosseum
   XD:    Available in XD
   D:     Available in Diamond
   P:     Available in Pearl
[]:    Beginning check. If you print this part out, you can check off
the Pokemon evolution line you caught. Remember: in each version,
you can get the beginning form then level it up to get its
Pokedex info if you breed it. Ditto is a must, but is unavailable
          in Ruby and Sapphire.
*:     Choice Pokemon. You can only get one of the 2 or 3 options per game,
so you have to play the game multiple times and trade the other one
to another cartriage to get all of them.
**:    Uses a evolution item/stone that may be limited per game. May need
to find another stone/item in other versions to evolve it. Item
may also be a link-trade item where you will need to trade it.
***:   Link trade Pokemon. Need either two GBA games or a GBA and GCN game
          to trade it to evolve.
****:  One-Chance Pokemon. They always appear in the same spot, and will be
gone if you run or knock them out (Or they knock you out). Save
before, or else they will be gone forever unless you get a trade or
          restart your game.
*****: Espeon and Umbreon evolve from eevee, but they cannot be evolved in
FR/LG due to a lack of clock. As for Feebas and Milotic, they cannot evolve in FR/LG if you tradde a Feebas over due to a lack of Pokeblocks.
